This is a closer view of the kitchen.
This picture is for Sarah and Lori, notice the things that
As you would notice the table and 4 stools(we use one for an end table by the chair in the living room, and the other is behind the chair, Jim uses at his desk), my husband bought those for me after we moved down here. Thank you so much Jim I like them so much they really look nice in the setting.
The arrangement above the microwave, the salt and pepper, and the sugar and creamer were my Great Grandmother Martha Tawney's. The elephant is a handmade by my neice, Tracy's sister in law. (sorry I do not have her name or business card)There is a story about the picture. One Saturday Ruth and I were out Garage Saleing. We were on our way home when we saw this Garage Sale so we stopped. I stayed in the van, I was tired out. When Ruth got back to the van, she said there is a pictute I think you would really like for only $3.00. So I get out. I saw it and thought that is beautiful, bought it and here it is. Thank you Ruth for wanting to stop at that Sale.
A couple of views of my beautiful flowers that Ruth and the boys got me.
The orchids are from Easter and not one blossom has fallen of as of yet. When it started out it only had two blossoms on it. The bouquet is from Mother's Day. Thank you so much Ruth, we have really enjoyed them.
This flower stand is from my sister Sandy, for my birthday a few years ago. we have really enjoyed it. Later in one of the pictures you will see it with a plant on it. It will be near the window.
This is a view of the living room looking on from the kitchen. The swag up in the window was not what I planned, but when I found the fabric that I was going to use, it was not near as long as I had thought it was. So I thought well make do with what I have, so I did. the loveseat Ruth had bought and given to us two years ago for helping take care of the boys.(I had a couch also but gave to Sarah, I knew we wouldn't have room)
This is a closer view of the table in front of the window. The black giraffe and elephant, were given to us from Sarah and Lori. The lamp another item from the store I worked at. Under the table on the right is the giraffe with the plant on it. The snake plant next to it is a plant that I had recieved when Sarah was born in an arrangement 38 years ago. Sorry Sarah for given your age but had to tell how old the plant was.
One of the Saturday's we were out Garage Saleing, Ruth, Becky, Easton and I, (Jim had the two older boys)we saw these pictures and Becky told me that I could get them, they were at a Gated Community, so you know they were costly. They wanted $10.00 each for them, I just looked at them and walked on and Becky said, "Mom you can get those pictures" so she bought them for me. The one on the left is a mother giraffe and her little one, the one in the middle, is two zebras, the one on the right is a lion. Thank you so much Becky, they look so nice in the living room. The cheetah pillows I had made for Ruth several years ago, when she moved from the place that she lived at, at the time she talked about going Safari in her living room, but it didn't happen so she gave them to me when I went Safari.
Another view of the little votive cup and table. The clear coasters I earned at a Crystle Party I had.
Another view of the living room. The China Cabinet was given to me from our daughter Sarah, she moved into a smaller place and didn't have room for it, so she said I could use it. I have Christmas dishes which were given to me by a coe worker of Becky's, Carol Johnson, thank you Carol, it is a place setting of 20, stemmed glasses, tea cups, mugs, plates, saucers, and serving dishes they have poinsettas on them. Also I have my snowman dishes that we use everyday in the winter time, Becky had bought and collected them for me, it is a place setting for 12, plates, bowls, bread/ butter dishes, mugs, serving dishes, and silverware with the snowmen on the handles and glasses with snowmen, she collected and bought them through a few years. Thank you so much Becky, as you know I really like and enjoy them. Both sets are in the base of the cabinet. My crystle that I earned in Crystal Parties I held through the years, like a punch bowl set, water pitcher, three different size and shapes of vases. Also I have a wedding gift, a chip/ dip bowl, I also have in it a Ceramic Gazeboe with a bride and groom in it, which a very dear friend, Rose Mary Smith, made and gave to us for our 25th Anniversary. Then I have an antique butter dish that was my step mother, Betty's mothers, and a chinese soup bowl and spoon, all made out of china glass given to me by my sister Sandy. A large relish dish that was a very dear friend of mine who has gone to be with Jesus, Beth Elve. There are some figurines, zebras, lions, and elephants, that were given to me from a Secret Sister in a church back home in Michigan. Then there are little odds and ends of glassware. These are all in top of the cabinet.
The office chair has a story behind it. It was given to me by my daughter and her roommate, Lori. When we were moving down here, we were driving a car down here and a moving truck. Sarah and Lori were going with us to help drive. So they lived about 2 hours from us in Michigan. So we stopped to pick them up on our way. When we got there Sarah said "do you have room on the truck?" Our other daughter Becky said "why?" Sarah said "she wanted to give this chair to Mom, for her computer desk", well at that time Becky thought they better try and make room for I was sitting right there when Sarah asked. You see the thing was when we were putting the last little bit on the truck we were not able to take some stuff, so I was giving stuff away. But they were able to get the chair on the truck. But for now it is being used in the living room for the time being, because I don't have a computer desk. So until then we are enjoying it in the living room. Thank you Sarah and Lori, for giving it to me and for making a way to put it on the truck.
The blanket on the back of the office chair is a blanket that I made my stepfather when he was on his death bed. It has a picture of a man in a fishing boat.It reminded me of him so much, so I had to make it for him. Then when he passed away his wife wanted to make sure that got it back. That ment so much to me. So I had given her another in return that I had made. Thank you Betty for your thoughtfulness. The table and chair at the window another purchase at the store I worked. It had two chairs but one came unsodered. So it got thrown away.
This is an umbrella holder that my sister Sandy has given me for a birthday sometime ago. There are umbrellas in it, but they are the ones that fold up small. So I made and arrangement out of it too, as well as a cane holder, which was my husbands stepfathers, Leon Stuba's cane.
This is a closer view of the arrangement next to the china cabinet. The giraffe chimes were given to me by Ruth, the first time I had come down to help out with the boys in January 1- March 18,07. She had taken us to the "Lion Country Safari" for the first time. It was an enjoyable time. Then the mirror and shelf were items that I had earned for my kit when I sold Home Interior. Don't you just love how I captured the swag in mirror?
These pictures were other items that I got for next to nothing because of my discount along with sales.
Before we go into the hallway, there is a desk that the girls bought Jim at a garage sale, the one where Becky bought me the pictures. This desk had a price of $75.00 on it and Ruth had asked the gentleman if he was stuck on the price and he said no. So in my mind I was thinking go 50.00, but she said would you take $60.00 and he said yes. So the girls got their heads together and decided to get it for their dad for his birthday the first of the year after we moved down here in Florida. The top part of the desk I have displayed my items that the girls got us from Mexico, and Haiti, and what I had brought home from Haiti when I was there. Then also we have a clock a woman that was ceramic and made for my husband Jim, for helping the woman save money shipping packages at a job he once worked.(Greyhound)
As you can tell what the few pictures are above, the hall to the bathroom and closet space that we have. The pictures with the doors, the first door on far right is our pantry, then the hall to the bathroom, then the furnace/ storage, like tool box, then the last closet before the bedroom is the the boys, with their things they can play with while they are here. The top shelf is Grandmas though, for a few craft things most of those are under our bed. The washer and dryer you see in the bath hall, the towel sets Sarah and Lori bought for me just because. The lighthouse on the back of the stool is a Anniversary gift given to us from my Mother and Father. The blue striped lighthouse was another item from the store I worked. The little red lighthouse on the sink is from Ruth and the boys, back at a time when I was down and had to hospitalized. It lights up when turned on. In the right corner of the sink there is a large sanddollar, it is on a plate stand because it has the poem of the "Footprints in the Sand" on it. It was given to me from my sister for a birthday. Above the stool and towels is a crossstitch that I had did for Jim many years ago for some occassion, I am getting to old it has been that long ago. It has a lighthouse on it. Thank you everyone for helping us to make "Our House A Home".
This is looking out of the bathroom, the cart is another item I earned years ago from Home Interior. The watering can was a birthday gift from my sister Sandy, the planter on the left was from my husband after I got of the hospital.
This clock, which is on the hall wall on the right as you leave the bathroom, it is a Momentle, my stepfather, who raised me most of my childhood, had given it to me. When Sarah and I had stopped at their place in Florida one year, while we were down in Florida to see Ruth when she was in college. He had bought it for me. The picture is my favorit picture. I got to choose from many. He had bought one for Sarah also of her choosing.
Another view of the cart.
This picture is one that my sister bought me for my birthday last summer. Isn't it beautiful? Thank you Sandy for the beautiful picture.
You have now enter our room, but don't look behind you, it is a pile of boxes with computer stuff in them. The bedspread I so enjoy, but the only thing is, it is so heavy, I have a hard time making the bed. It is a $300.00 spread I purchased it for $25.00 at the store I use to work at. The price was just for the spread nothing else. They only had the one pillow sham, so I made the other pillows out of $25.00 a yard fabric that I purchased for almost nothing. The Tigar picture Becky bought me, and we added a wooden frame to the already brass looking one it fit so nicely. Thank you Becky for your thoughtfulness. I really do appreciate it.
Another view of the bed, the music box on the left of the bed our church from the Bristolwood Pilgrim Nazarene Church had given to us for a good bye gift. It was so thoughtful of them. I had displayed it on one of my blog interies after we moved down here. The song that it plays is "Great Is They Faithfulness". When we received it, it had little notes in it from the people of the church. They each put a note telling why they were going to miss us. It was so thoughtful of them. We so love it, and appreciate it so much. Thank you again church. We will always charish it. The little golden brass container on the shelf with the greenery, my husband bought me at a Home Interior Party I had. Thank Hon, I love it.
The picture in this arrangement is one that Ruth had given me the first time I had come down to Florida to help with the boys. I carried it home to Michigan on the plane. Who would of thought it would end up back in Florida. Thank you so much Ruth I so enjoy it.
Another view of a closer look at the items here. I want to say too, that the opened chest with the greenery in it was a gift from Ruth with bath things in it and candles. So I thought it would look nice with the greenery in it.
Looking back down the hall to the living room.
As I was doing this, blog I got to thinking that as I have been remembering different ones, I thought what better way to open the "Memorial" Week End by going over some of the things you remember about someone you love and the things that they have given you. We need to remember those that are still with us too. And I guess that is what I have did in this blog.
So I am "Honoring those who are still with us today.
And "Remembering" those who have gone on before us.
I also want to remember our "Service Men and Woman", Thank you for serving. We love you.
And may
"God Bless"
