When Grandpa and Grandma Weatherwax would come and watch the girls open the gifts as was mentioned earlier we would eat after the children opened their gifts, then grandpa and grandma would go home and get lunch ready and my brother and sister and their families would be there when they were little. As they got older it was harder to get together with them, but maybe at times they might stop by.
Ruth thought it would be nice to keep that tradition, as we did going to watch the boys open their tree and had ate with them. We then went home a got lunch ready. She wanted pretty much what they had when they were growing up. Ham sandwiches, bakebeans, greenstuff we would call it something that my Mom would make with cottage cheese, crushed pineapple drained, one box of dry lime jello, stir it all together with a large container of coolwhip. Mom would a lot of times have all kinds of baking done, cookies candies you name it she made it. Well, about all the farther I got in any of that is the greensturr, and finger jello, which is another that we make for Christmas Day!
Do you know that song? " Over the river and through the woods to grandmothers house we go"Well, it goes like this here "Down the street and around the corner to grandmothers house go"
Here is grandmas tree.
We got a picture of the four of them before we had our lunch. Don't know what the boys would look like when they got done eating.
As you can see PaPa was Santa, this wasn't the first gift he passed out, but I need to share it with you, he opened this gift he is holding, it was a shoe box, inside the box was a ticket for the Orange Bowl Game New Years Day, that he got he was so shocked he just stood there and looked at it. So he has that to look forward too yet, he is excited.
